Swapping out the tools: Developing the sand area

Today the lovely EYP who added the everyday objects to the playdough area last week (see post here) tackled our sand area.  This time it was going to be a much bigger job.  Our old sand area was very much a focus on basic tools (each shelf [1 x red, 1 x blue 1 x yellow] had a sieve, bucket, space, rake and scoop)
Other than that it was just a few writing implements and that's it.  We did it because at the beginning of the year the children needed to focus on their fine motor control and grip.  Now, however, our children are ready for more.

This way our children can now focus on developing their role play skills, creativity and understanding small world.  We are very excited to see what the next few days brings but I'm sure it will go from strength to strength.
