Making 'Gak'

I stumbled across this post on how to make Gak when researching about miniature water beads.
I fell in love with the look of it and knew I had to give it a go.

You will need:

1 box of 500g Cornflour.
1/4 cup of Basil seeds
3 cups of tepid water.
Food colouring (optional).

1) Add the cornflour and basil seeds to a mixing bowl and mix.

2) Mix the food colouring with the water in a separate bowl or cup.

3) Add the water to the cornflour and seed mix and mix well.
Now this bit is quite tricky.  You can't really mix using your spoon so you need to get your hands in there.

4) Give it a very good mix, then turn out and begin to knead.  As the seeds swell the dough will begin to dry.  Add a little more water to the tray (about 10ml) to remoisten when it becomes a little dry.

We had a lovely time with this today - I would recommended using things like yoghurt pots, spoons, small dishes and plastic knives within the tray to manipulate the dough - but hands really are the best things to use;)
